[tt] [gsc] US too delusional to fix

Regarding the economic incentives for progress, American society, at least, doesn't necessarily grant status to people who produce wealth or useful technological innovations; instead it grants status to people who can accumulate absurdly huge fortunes, even if they do so through rent-seeking or swindles like Bernard Madoff's before his Ponzi scheme collapsed. Actress Angelina Jolie said a few years ago that she receives "stupid money," way out of proportion of its value, for what she does in films. I don't see how you can blame "socialism" for that.
