Frank: you asked: 'What's happened in the last 9 years?"
I wonder at the intelligence of a pregnant woman who does _not_ do her
research for which prenatal tests to do, and when, and what are the
risks for each one. It is _her_ responsibility, not her doctor's to do
her homework, and then ask her doctor for a detailed and explanatory
list in order to help her to decide what is best. Even given this, today
I would have a hard time imagining a western country obstetrician, who
does _not- give such basic information as an amniocentesis test, and the
other less-risky genetic marker tests that can be performed earlier.
This whole story smells weirdly fishy, like it has been stuck in a
stale fish tank for too long.
