Grey Thumb Meeting Announcement
Featuring a talk by Chris Dwan on the intersection of genomics and high
performance computing.
When: 7:00pm Monday, October 1, 2007
Where: The Asgard Irish Pub & Restaurant (350 Mass. Ave, Central Square,
Cambridge)
Who: All are welcome
Chris Dwan will share stories and technical tidbits from seven years
of work enabling science at the intersection of genomics and high
performance computing.
Chris Dwan originally trained in Computer Science, specializing in
Artificial Intelligence. He spent several years helping to develop
intelligent recognition systems in Infrared and Radarfor an Army
contractor, and then turned to the field of bioinformatics. Over the
past seven years he has worked with a wide variety of genomic and
high performance computing projects ... occasionally finding a way to
use some AI techniques. Chris will share stories, technical tidbits,
and whatever else seems interesting about the interface of biology,
AI, and HPC.
Chris is currently Vice President and Principal Investigator at The
Bioteam (http://bioteam.net)
