TIP OF THE WEEK: If you have noticed that your hard drive space is
shrinking and you are not sure what is hogging all the megabytes,
you can get a quick, colorful look at the big picture without
wading through folders or fiddling with system utilities. Just
download a tree-map program like WinDirStat for Windows
(windirstat.info) or Disk Inventory X for the Mac
(www.derlien.com).
Once you open and run the program, you get a treemap, or screen
full of colored boxes that depict what files (and types of files)
are filling up your hard drive. Once you know what is taking up all
the room, you can take appropriate cleanup measures.

general interest, but e-mail and letters cannot be answered
individually.
