Invitation for Abstracts:
========================
Abstracts are invited for presentation at ICSB-2007.  Of particular
interest are abstracts that bring together experimental research with
novel systems-based approaches to understanding biology.  Topics
include, but are not limited to:

  * Morphogenesis
  * Regulatory Systems
  * Multiscale Networks
  * Synthetic Biology
  * Mathematical Frontiers
  * Technological Frontiers
  * Systems Bioinformatics
  * Systems Biomedicine
  * RTK Systems Biology

This year, abstract submission provides the opportunity to submit both
a short 750-character abstract and a longer 500 word, 3-page extended  
abstract.
For all accepted abstracts, we will publish the 3-page extended
version online on the ICSB 2007 website, and will use the short
version in the production of a small proceedings volume to be
distributed at the conference.  The extended abstracts will also form
the basis for evaluating and selecting the top 8-9 submissions for
oral presentations at the conference.

Special Section of the journal Molecular Systems Biology
========================================================
In addition, ICSB this year has a partnership with Molecular Systems
Biology (http://www.nature.com/msb).  Extended abstracts submitted by
an earlier deadline of July 27, 2007, will be evaluated by a committee
consisting of ICSB reviewers and MSB editors.  A subset of
approximately 8 abstracts will be chosen and their authors will be
invited to submit full manuscripts for possible publication in an
issue of MSB containing a section devoted to ICSB 2007.  The special
issue will be published in March/April 2008.  The manuscripts will be
submitted to standard MSB review, but if accepted, the MSB publication
fees (USD $3000) will be paid by ICSB 2007.  In effect, authors of
each selected abstract will receive a "ticket" for publication in MSB.
Selections will be announced on August 17, 2007, and authors of
selected abstracts will be requested to submit full manuscripts by
October 1, 2007.  After a rapid final check of the manuscripts (for
such things as correspondence to the extended abstract), they will be
sent by MSB for fast-track review.  Review results and decisions will
be issued by MSB on or before December 1, 2007.  Final revisions of
accepted papers will be due from authors in February 2008.  (Authors
of papers rejected with suggestions for changes or additional
experimental results may revise and resubmit their manuscripts at a
later stage.)

Please note that due to the short turn-around time for reviews, we
will not be able to make exceptions to the July 27 deadline for
consideration for publication in MSB.

All abstracts, regardless of whether submitted by July 27, will still
be considered for poster presentations at ICSB if submitted by the
late deadline of September 1, 2007.
